Web Searching real or not

Website Evaluation:

Viewing many sites in the internet I think it is a useful tool that can be used for anything. Although, navigating through the internet has its' good and bad. The good part of navigating through the web is that you can find useful resources that can be helpful for children's work from school. For example, when students have a history paper due usually the web has interesting facts and articles found online. Another good part is that children can also view sites that are reading sites and helpful for their reading comprehension. Aside from all the good websites there are also bad websites that students navigate through and see rated images or games. The best way I will help a student is by identifying the website at first for example if it is a school assignment usually interesting websites are scholarly journals and peer reviewed journals rather than wikipedia. I will also assist a student to identify the site as when helpful and true websites have a lock symbol and these websites are usually not fake and are used for safe purposes for anyone to navigate through the web safely.

SAMR Model

When viewing links about Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition I understood how there are different methods of implementing ideas and useful lessons in classroom. Some lessons and activities have been upgraded during the years. I recall teachers using cassettes while reading books without the teachers having to actually read the book. I would of liked to substitute reading books outloud to actually using E-books. In this way each student will have their own tablet where they can navigate on the desired story they want. In this way students can also read from tablet and see pictures more vividly that can create more interest on reading and also using the web accordingly. At this point the tablet will be the Augmentation whereas, students are able to view the story and E-books also provide questions to the story. In this way students are responding back while teacher is monitoring from own computer. I will modify the reading lesson with using E-books also, using E-book students can go to links where music is playing relating to the story. Using new technology in the classroom inhibits students to be more active in the reading process without having to listen to the teacher read all day. Of course, reading sesssions will be monitored. I think that having new technology facilitated teachers grading along with their teaching and in this way there are few papers to grade and more time involving in actual teaching and student learning in a fun way. I think using the SAMR model is useful to better understand how teaching methods have evolved over the years. Monica Barrera

I like this website because it gives very interesting ideas for teacher to include to students. The ideas that this website provides is very helpful because it includes artistic activities and not the same boring activities. The activities are very creative and different in building. These ideas help children to use cognitive skills, fine motor and also includes math. I use this website when I do my lesson plans for my Early Head Start children. Moms like the creative ideas because we can create activities with items in their house.

My name is Monica Barrera I was born in Chicago Illinois coming from a family of ten. Both my parents were born in Mexico. I graduated from Benito Juarez High School in the year 2000. I continued my education when I assisted to Malcolm X College and then transferred to Harold Washington College where I graduated with my Associates in Arts. I came to NLU and this is my third quarter here. I currently work with Early Head Start children and their families as a Home Visitor. My major is Elementary Education which I have been wanting to do for a long time. I want to help others in any possible way along with their families to establish a better community. I want to work for CPS because here is where I wanted and want to work with the same students in the community. I am very interested in this class because I want to learn more about networks and other systems that I can implement in my own classroom one day.
